CRAFTSMANSHIP

At Christian Andre, we take pride in the artistry and precision that goes into creating each of our unique lighting pieces. Every detail is crafted with care, using time-honored techniques that ensure both beauty and durability. Our commitment to traditional craftsmanship is reflected in every piece we produce.

Mastering Metal: Deep Bronze

Our lighting fixtures are cast in solid brass and finished with a deep, dark bronze patina that emphasizes the material’s natural beauty. This carefully developed finish, which we call Deep Bronze, creates a rich appearance with subtle variations in tone and texture, giving each piece character and depth.

A Commitment to Quality

Inspired by Belgium’s rich heritage of design and craftsmanship, each of our pieces is a celebration of tradition and innovation. Belgian design is known for its meticulous attention to detail, refined aesthetics, and commitment to quality. From the initial design phase to the finished product, we carefully oversee every step to uphold the highest standards. Our approach honors traditional techniques while embracing creativity and innovation in every design.

Glass Casting: The Perfect Complement

For designs that include a glass element, like the original Curved Wall Lantern, we use a similar process. Instead of sand casting, we follow the lost wax method. The mold containing the glass is placed inside a kiln, where it is heated to a precise temperature to ensure strength and clarity. As it cools, the glass takes the shape of the mold and develops a frosted finish.

Sand Casting: A Timeless Technique

The foundation of our Curved Wall Lantern begins with the ancient art of sand casting. This method has been used for centuries to shape metal into intricate designs. We start by creating a mold from fine sand, carefully forming it to capture every detail of the design. Then, molten metal is poured into the mold. As the metal cools, it takes on the exact shape and texture of the mold, resulting in a solid, durable piece with a distinctive character.
